NCC Special Entry Eligibility Criteria 2026

• Candidates must be unmarried, either (i) a citizen of India, (ii) a subject of Nepal, or (iii) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, or specified East African countries and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India (subject to an eligibility certificate from the Government of India; not required for Nepal’s Gorkha subjects).
• Age Limit: 19 to 25 years as on 1 January 2027, i.e. born not earlier than 2 January 2002 and not later than 1 January 2008 (both dates inclusive). This applies to NCC candidates, including wards of Battle Casualties.
• Educational Qualification: A Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) from a recognised university. Candidates in the final year may also apply, provided they complete their degree before the course commences; their aggregate percentage from the first two/three years of the degree course will be used for shortlisting.
• NCC Requirement: Candidates must hold a minimum of ‘B’ Grade in the NCC ‘C’ Certificate examination, with at least two/three years of service (as applicable) in the Senior Division/Wing of the NCC. Only a final NCC ‘C’ Certificate is accepted at the SSB — provisional certificates are not accepted at that stage.
• Wards of Battle Casualties: Unmarried sons and unmarried daughters (including legally adopted) of Army personnel killed in action, died of wounds/injuries, wounded/injured, or missing presumed dead are eligible under a separate category, and are not required to hold an NCC ‘C’ Certificate, though they must submit specified battle-casualty certification.
• Candidates can appear for only one of either the SSC(NT) CDSE interview or the NCC (Special) Entry interview for this course cycle — an undertaking to this effect is required in the online application.

• Conduct of SSB: A five-day, two-stage selection process conducted at Prayagraj, Bhopal, Bengaluru, and Jalandhar. Candidates who fail Stage I are returned on the first day itself.
• Medical Examination: Conducted for candidates recommended after Stage II of the SSB.
• Merit List & Joining Letter: A final merit list is prepared based on SSB marks; candidates within the notified vacancies who are medically fit are issued joining letters for training at OTA, Chennai.

Physical standards required before joining the academy differ for men and women — for instance, men must complete the 2.4 km run in 10 minutes 30 seconds with 30 push-ups, while women are required to complete the run in 13 minutes with 15 push-ups, along with other specified sit-up, squat, lunge, and swimming standards.
