NIC Scientific/Technical Assistant Recruitment 2026: National Informatics Centre (NIC) has released Advertisement No. NIC/STA/2026/2 inviting applications for the post of Scientific/Technical Assistant-A, a Group-B S&T (Non-Gazetted) post in Level 6 (₹35,400 – ₹1,12,400) of the 7th CPC Pay Matrix, on a Direct Recruitment basis.

The merit list will be prepared based on a valid Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) score of 2024, 2025, or 2026. NIC, established in 1976, is a “prime builder” of e-Government/e-Governance applications across Ministries, Departments, States, Districts, and Blocks in India.

Note: Government-serving candidates in the same line or allied cadre get an additional 5 years’ age relaxation. PwBD candidates get age relaxation irrespective of whether the post is reserved for them, provided it is identified suitable.

NIC Scientific/Technical Assistant Selection Process 2026

• Only candidates fulfilling the eligibility criteria and who have registered on the NIC recruitment portal will be considered.
• A category-wise merit list will be prepared for each discipline based on the GATE Score. Equal weightage is given to GATE 2024, 2025, and 2026 scores.
• Tie-Breaking Criteria (in order): (1) Older year GATE score ranked higher; (2) if same year and score, older candidate by age ranked higher; (3) if still tied, higher percentage in essential qualification ranked higher.
• Shortlisted candidates will be called for Document Verification as per vacancies before a provisional appointment is offered.
• Document Verification will be conducted at Delhi or another approved location; no TA/DA will be paid, and no request for postponement or location change will be entertained.
• Aadhaar-based authentication will be used at every stage of the recruitment process.
