Candidates must meet the minimum eligibility requirements in terms of educational qualifications, age limits, and other criteria. The required criteria are as mentioned below.
Educational Qualification
(a) For all trades except Medical Laboratory Technicians:
Passed Matriculation (Class 10) or its equivalent (under 10+2 system) with minimum 50% marks (in aggregate) from a recognized board.
Possess National Trade Certificate (ITI) in the notified trade issued by NCVT OR Provisional Certificate issued by NCVT/SCVT.
IMPORTANT: The minimum requirement of 50% aggregate marks in Matriculation is NOT applicable to candidates belonging to SC/ST/PwBD categories.
(b) For Medical Laboratory Technician (Pathology) & Medical Laboratory Technician (Radiology):
Passed 12th Class examination under 10+2 system with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology with a minimum of 50% marks in both 10th & 12th.
Copies of mark sheets & pass certificates of Class 10 and Class 12 (with Physics, Chemistry & Biology) must be uploaded.

How to Apply Online for NFR Act Apprentice Recruitment 2026?
The Online Application process for the NFR Act Apprentice Recruitment will start at Northeast Frontier Railway’s official website from 14th July 2026 onwards. Candidates can follow the steps provided below to apply online.
Step 7: Pay the application fee online using debit card, credit card, net banking, or UPI (if applicable).
Step 8: After reviewing all the entered information, submit the form.
Step 9: Download and print a copy of your submitted application for future reference.
IMPORTANT: Candidates are allowed to submit ONLY ONE application each. Submission of more than one application shall summarily disqualify the candidate. Candidates must preserve their Registration Number and must not change their registered mobile numbers and email addresses during the entire selection process.
NFR Act Apprentice Recruitment 2026 Selection Process
The selection of eligible candidates will be done purely based on academic merit. There is NO written examination. The selection process involves the following stages:
Stage 1: Merit List Preparation
Merit lists will be prepared unit-wise, trade-wise, and community-wise based on the percentage of marks obtained.
For most trades: Average of Matriculation marks (with minimum 50% aggregate) + ITI marks in the relevant trade.
For Medical Laboratory Technicians: Average of Matriculation marks (with minimum 50% aggregate) + 12th Science marks (in Physics, Chemistry & Biology).
Tie-breaking rule: When two or more candidates have equal marks, the older candidate in age shall be ranked higher. If the date of birth is also same, the candidate who passed Matriculation exam earlier shall be considered first.
Stage 2: Document Verification
Shortlisted candidates (1.5 times the notified vacancies) will be called for Document Verification (DV).
Candidates must produce ORIGINAL documents during verification.
Medical Certificate as per Annexure-XI signed by a Government authorized Doctor (Gaz.), not below the rank of Asst. Surgeon of Central/State Hospital, must be submitted.
Stage 3: Final Selection
The final panel will be based on merit and successful document verification.
Candidates will be considered for allotment of only one combination of Unit-Department-Trade based on academic merit and preference exercised.
Once selected against a higher preference, all lower preferences automatically stand cancelled.
NOTE: No daily allowance/conveyance allowance or travelling allowance will be paid to candidates called for document verification.
