What is the KPSC KAS Recruitment 2026-27 Selection Process?
The KPSC KAS selection process has three stages: a Preliminary Examination, a Main Examination, and a Personality Test (Interview). Candidates qualifying the Preliminary Examination will be shortlisted, discipline/category-wise, for the Main Examination, and those clearing the Main Examination will be called for the Personality Test.

Preliminary Examination
Objective type (multiple choice), consisting of two papers of 200 marks each (400 marks total), each of 2 hours’ duration. Papers set in Kannada and English.
Shortlisting for Main Examination
Candidates are admitted to the Main Examination in the ratio of 15 times the notified vacancies, based on merit in the Preliminary Examination, subject to category-wise representation.
Main Examination
Conventional/descriptive type, consisting of 2 qualifying papers (Kannada and English) and 5 compulsory papers (Essay + General Studies I–IV), totalling 1250 marks.
Qualifying Papers
Candidates must secure a minimum of 35% marks in each of the Kannada and English qualifying papers; these marks are not counted towards merit.
Personality Test / Interview
Candidates are called for interview in the ratio of 1:3 against notified vacancies, based on Main Examination merit. Carries 25 marks.
Final Selection
Based on the aggregate of Main Examination marks (1250) and Personality Test marks (25), totalling 1275 marks.
Negative Marking
In the Preliminary Examination, 0.25 marks are deducted for each wrong answer.
