Desirable Qualification: Knowledge of customs, manners, and dialects of Himachal Pradesh, and suitability for appointment in the peculiar conditions prevailing in the Pradesh.
Candidates must meet the required age limit and educational qualifications as prescribed.
Educational Qualification
A Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent from a recognized University.
Candidates awaiting results of a qualifying examination may also apply, subject to conditions specified in the notification.
Final-year M.B.B.S. or equivalent medical examination candidates (without completed internship) may be provisionally admitted, subject to producing proof at the Personality Test stage.

HPPSC HPAS Apply Online 2026
HPPSC HPAS applications are accepted only through the Online Recruitment Application (ORA) mode via www.hppsc.hp.gov.in/hppsc. Candidates should follow the steps below:
Visit the official HPPSC website and click “Apply Online” on the homepage.
Click “One Time Registration (OTR) for Examinations” and register by clicking “New Registration” (if not already registered).
Log into the OTR account; the list of live advertisements will be displayed on the dashboard.
Select the relevant post and upload all requisite documents as per the advertisement.
Give the required undertaking/declaration confirming the uploaded documents are legible and true.
Pay the examination fee online; the application is deemed successfully submitted only after fee payment is acknowledged.
Select one optional subject for the HPAS Main Examination from the list of subjects.
Note: No change is allowed in the submitted ORA except category change as per prescribed procedure. Candidates must capture a live photograph during application, used for identity verification at the exam hall.

HPPSC HPAS Selection Process 2026
HPPSC HPAS Recruitment 2026 selection comprises three stages: Preliminary Examination, Main Examination, and Personality Test (Interview).
1. Preliminary Examination (Screening Test Only)
Two objective-type papers: General Studies (Paper-I) and Aptitude Test (Paper-II), 200 marks each, 100 questions each.
Duration: 2 hours per paper.
Aptitude Test (Paper-II) is qualifying only, with minimum qualifying marks of 33%; merit for admission to Main Exam is based solely on Paper-I (General Studies).
Negative Marking: ⅓ mark deducted for each wrong answer; multiple answers treated as wrong; no penalty for unattempted questions.
Candidates scoring zero or negative marks in Paper-I will not qualify.
Approx. 20 times the number of vacancies will be admitted to the Main Examination.
It is mandatory to appear in both papers; failure to do so results in disqualification.

Candidates must score at least 40% in each of the compulsory English and Hindi papers, and 45% in the aggregate of other papers (excluding English & Hindi), to qualify.
Marks in English & Hindi are not counted for overall ranking, only for qualifying.

Final merit is determined by marks in the Main Examination (written + interview) combined; Preliminary Exam marks are not counted.
