AAU Eligibility Criteria 2026

Candidates who are willing to apply must make sure they fulfill the required educational qualification for the respective post.

• Senior Scientist and Head: Doctoral degree in the relevant field of Agriculture/Animal Science/Fisheries/Community Science/Horticulture/Sericulture with 8 years of experience (excluding the period spent obtaining the Ph.D. degree) in the relevant subject as Scientist/Lecturer/Extension Specialist, or an equivalent position in Pay Band 3 (Rs. 15,600–39,100) with grade pay of Rs. 5,400/6,000/7,000/8,000 (as per 6th CPC), having contributions to research/teaching/extension education evidenced by published work/innovations and impact. Specialization in implementing extension education programmes is desirable.
• Subject Matter Specialist (T6): Master’s degree in Agriculture/Animal Science/Fisheries Science from a recognized university.
• Farm Manager (T4): Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture/Animal Science/Fishery Science/Horticulture/Sericulture from a recognized University.
• Programme Assistant (Lab. Technician) (T4): Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture/Animal Science/Fishery Science/Community Science/Horticulture/Sericulture from a recognized University.
• Programme Assistant (Computer) (T4): Bachelor’s Degree in the relevant field (Computer Science/Computer Application/Information Technology) or equivalent from a recognized University.
• Assistant: Bachelor’s Degree in any subject from a recognized University with 5 years of work experience in Accounts and establishment.
• Stenographer Grade-III: Bachelor’s degree from a recognized University with working knowledge of computer (minimum 6 months Diploma in Computer Application). Candidates will be required to take a dictation test in English at 80 w.p.m. for 10 minutes and transcribe the matter in 50 minutes on computer.
• Driver (T1): Passed HSLC or its equivalent examination from a recognized board; driving license for both heavy and light vehicles (subject to a practical skill test); 2 years of driving experience. A one-year trade certificate from ITI and experience of motor mechanic work are desirable.
• Supporting Staff-Grade I: Matriculation or equivalent pass, or ITI pass.

Age Limit

The age of candidates will be reckoned as on 1st January 2026.

There is no upper age limit for in-service candidates of AAU. Age relaxation for reserve category candidates will be applicable as per the norms of the Government of Assam.
